The Assumption of Our Lady speaks profoundly about the nature and importance of the body. It is a sign of sure hope and comfort to us that one day we, the pilgrim people of God, will also find a place in heavenly glory.
The omnipotent God chose Mary.
It all began with a ‘yes’. Our Lady’s consent to the angel: “Be it done to me according to thy Word” is the moment the world changes. In agreeing to become the Mother of God, Mary allows the plan of salvation to take place. God called her into existence for no other reason than to fulfil this most awesome of all vocations.
